How can you improve the overall quality of a software project through the use of test metrics?

Test metrics can be used to track and measure the efficiency, effectiveness, and the success or shortcomings of various activities of a software development project. While it is important to recognize the value of gathering test metrics data, it is the interpretation of that data which makes the metrics meaningful.

Shaun Bradshaw describes a metrics quick start program with examples of test metrics that can be tracked during a test effort and explains how to interpret those metrics so the information they provide is meaningful to the project.

Shaun Bradshaw Director of Quality Solutions for Questcon Technologies is responsible for managing Questcon's team of Senior Practice Managers in the areas of quality solutions development and service delivery.

Shaun is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a BS in Information Systems and a minor in Computer Science. He has been working in the IT industry for 12 years during which he has worked to improve Quality Assurance and software test processes for clients in a variety of industries including, Financial Services, Manufacturing, and Telecommunications.

Shaun is the co-author and editor of Questcon's QuestAssured (tm) suite of methodologies including the Test Methodology, Test Management Methodology, and Test Metrics Methodology. He is also the author of an industry white paper on software test metrics.
