TOPIC: IT’s 2006 Oxymoron: Reduce IT Costs by Modernizing IT code, Privatizing IT Data, and Testing it all

              Thoroughly

IT Budgets are large and getting larger each fiscal year. While IT organizations are busy maintaining and creating new interfaces to legacy applications, and acquiring and building new applications, they are being tasked to modernize legacy applications, mandated to privatize and protect corporate data, and expected to do a better job of testing applications in order to meet a higher quality standard.   At the same time, IT organizations are under cost control pressures to do more with less money, and to report and track their success up to the people at the CxO level. Today’s IT oxymoron is doing more with less – let Compuware share some ideas on how to successfully accomplish these sometimes seemingly conflicting tasks.

Outline:

1. Who you are and what your responsibilities are.

2. Where is IT currently spending their budget money?

3. How can IT slow the budget growth?

4. What are some new IT initiatives that can help reduce long-term cost?

a. Legacy Modernization

b. Quality Testing

c. Data Privacy

d. What will your Corporation get by doing these things?

e. What is the process to accomplish these tasks?

f. Where is the cost savings?

5. Controlling, tracking and comparing all IT projects from an IT Governance point of view.

a. How IT Governance solutions can help manage the value of projects, in order to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley and Data Privacy laws and other corporate requirements
