TOPIC: Result Metrics: Measuring the Effect of Higher Capability

The Capability Maturity Paradigm holds out the promise that if you improve your software engineering capability you will improve your business performance. In some combination, you will improve software reliability, cycle time, productivity, customer satisfaction, etc.
Many organizations, while knowing that they have actually achieved this, have had a difficult time measuring their business performance. This presentation provides insight and examples of how this can be done with a focus on software testing.
Key ideas include:
a unique view of capability and practices
life cycle hierarchies
process taxonomy
fractal approach to defining business performance metrics
business performance metric sets
business performance metric sets as drivers of capability assessment
