TOPIC: Change Your Philosophy About Software CM

Change your philosophy about Software CM and you can't help but mature

This presentation will introduce the discipline of CM II from the Institute of Configuration Management (ICM). CMII is about positive control over your work product that can bring dollars back to any organization. This is a common sense framework, without all of the academic pontification that can accompany so many processes being sold to IT today as silver bullets. CMII differs from other processes in that it not only states the activities needed, it provides the means of how to perform them.

CMII is based upon over 20 years worth of experience in the field, designed to give you control over the products that you make and maintain. The concepts for CM II were first developed in the 1970’s and were formalized by ICM in the 1980’s. The discipline was been expanded to software development in 1998. The process works with other frameworks, such as ISO 9000 or the SEI's Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI). This presentation will discuss the tenets of CM II and how they can be applied to your organization.
